SIAF-2010-Awards Trophies


SIAF 2010 was proud to showcase in 7 animation blocks 64 of the world's best independent, professional and student animation shorts in the arts  and fields of both animation and visual effects. These 64 films where chosen from an outstanding group of 144 submission from 15 different country's.

The judges for this year’s festival were a wonderful mix of professionals and historians from the fields of animation, visual effects, and animatronic arts. SIAF's festival judges decided 9 special awards that represent the best in each competition category and also the best in show award. Additionally there was a special audience given award that was judged by our audience members that attend the animation block screenings at the festival!

The prize given for each category, audience, and best in show winner in the Savannah International Animation Festival 2010 was the wacustom made “Reynaud” trophy, which is named in honor of the Praxinoscope's French inventor Charles Emile Reynaud.

"Tomboy"

Tomboy is an animated 14 minute video geared to 5 to 9 year old girls. Tomboy looks at an incident in a Latina-Canadian girls'life where she is bullied for her tomboy ways. This story is original in its direct comment on the issue of nonconforming gender expression.

It is a short machinima film made to illustrate different concepts and techniques for making movies with the Source video game engine. Many 3D and video game techniques were used in the creation of 'Galaxy Gulp', resulting in a film both bizarre and entertaining.
